Chapter Ten
Raelynn
Pacing back and forth, I waited for my mom to call me back.
I’d barely finished telling her about the picture, sparing the more gruesome details, when she told me she’d take care of it and hung up.
That was twenty minutes ago.
When my cell finally vibrated, I answered without checking the caller ID.
“What did you find out?”
“That you’re going to fall hopelessly in love with me,” a familiar mellow voice replied.
“Jace?” I questioned. “How did you get my number?”
“I’ve got my ways, little mouse.”
I rolled my eyes skyward. “I know you didn’t call to drop that terrible nickname on me. What do you want?”
“What do I want? Do you really want to know?”
“Jace,” I huffed in exasperation.
“Kinda wanna write my name inside your pussy with my tongue.”
“Oh, my god.” That statement was all I needed to hear for the ache between my legs to remind me it had never gone away.
“Kinda wanna watch as my baby brother fucks you from behind.”
“Jace, stop,” I breathed, clenching my thighs and shifting uncomfortably.
“Why? Are you wet, Rae?”
“No,” I answered lazily, lying through my goddamn teeth. I could cure a third world country of its lack of water just from my vagina.
Shaking my head in a futile attempt to rid my brain of its lustful thoughts, I cleared my throat and said, “I’m hanging up, now. Thank you for this educational call.”
“Don’t hang up.”
His commanding tone had me pausing.
“Put the phone back to your ear,” he demanded, much more gently.
“How did you know I pulled it away?”
He chuckled lowly. “You said you’d go out with us, and I know you’re off tonight.”
Did he think I was going to go anywhere with him after all that?
“J—”
“We’ll be by to grab you at six. Dress casual,” he said, then proceeded to hang up on me.
I glared down at my cell when I heard the two beeps that signaled our call had been disconnected.
Shit. I had walked myself right into that.
Before I could contemplate an escape plan, my phone started ringing again, this time actually being my mother.
“Rae?” she intoned.
“What is it?” I asked, well aquatinted with her concerned tone.
“Where did you say that picture came from?”
“It was in with my mail. Why? What’s going on?”
“That’s the thing. Clark is in Texas for his parents’ anniversary dinner.”
“Then he had to have set it up from there,” I retorted, not understanding why this was important.
“No, Rae. Clark has no idea where you are.”
“But…” I tilted my head to the side, processing what she was saying. If he didn’t send the picture, where the hell did it come from?
